Control descriptions There will be no loose control descriptions at the event, just on the map. If you want loose ones, please print them.
You can check your start block using the Fabian4 link above.
Sorry, but entry for this event is now full and entries are therefore closed. You can read more about the reason for our capacity limit here. If we have any cancellations this week, we will re-open entries to allow those places to be used.
The event will be held in a COVID-secure manner in accordance with British Orienteering’s operational guidance. It is really important that all participants abide by this guidance before, during and after competing, so please ensure you read and abide by the COVID-19 Code of Conduct.
This event is pre-entry only, and is restricted to British Orienteering members only.
This event will be SIAC-enabled.
Directions / Parking
The event is at Penn Street, which is signposted off the A404 between High Wycombe and Amersham, at SU924965, HP7 0QW.
Parking is at commercial premises at SU923956, adjacent to the Hit or Miss pub, Penn Street, HP7 0PX. No charge for parking - your entry fee includes a donation to a charity of the landowner's choice.
Penn Wood and Common Wood are both ancient woodlands. Penn Wood is generally flat, as is most of Common Wood but the latter does contain one steep slope. The woods are very varied with a mixture of conifer, beech and oak, and some open areas. There are many pits / depressions as a result of ancient clay and flint workings. Last used for the Chiltern Challenge in February 2019.
1:10,000 with 5m contours. Yellow to Blue courses remain in Penn Wood, size A4; only the Brown course includes the adjacent Common Wood, A3 size. The map has been updated in 2020, by Bob and Pattie Beresford.

How To Enter
Entry is now full. If we have any cancellations by 20th September, we will reopen entries at 9am on Monday 21st September.
THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY ON THE DAY.
Pre-entries up to Sunday 20th September - Seniors £12, Juniors & Students £4.
Later entries (assuming start slots are still available) - Seniors £14, Juniors & Students £5.
Adults on Yellow and Orange £8.
SIAC hire £2. Lost SIACs charged at £65. If you have a non-SIAC SI card, we do recommend hiring a SIAC, to minimise the risk of infection from touching a control unit in the forest.
Portaloos and First Aid will be provided, but nothing else - so no cafe, no trader, not even squash. Bring your own post-run refreshment. Note that there are two decent pubs in Penn Street, if you are looking for lunch and/or a drink after your run.
In view of British Orienteering's COVID restrictions, we expect you to return to your car and to depart promptly once you have completed your run and downloaded.
Well-behaved dogs allowed on their leads in the car park. Please clean up after your dog. TVOC’s policy is no dogs to accompany competitors on their runs.
Click here to read our policy on refunds if you have to cancel for any reason.
If we have to cancel the event we will offer a refund of the entry fee, less the admin charge we pay to Fabian4.
