TVOC has a number of MapRun courses and an active Street-O league. MapRun allows you to navigate round a course, using the GPS on your smartphone to recognise that you have been to the various controls (checkpoints) on your course.
So what do you need, apart from your usual kit (clothes, shoes, compass)? You will need a smartphone with the MapRunF app installed.
NOTE that you take part in any MapRun events as an individual activity and not a club activity, and therefore will not be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance.
We have now opened up our new Street Series on MapRun. This will run over Autumn/Winter 2020-21 and consists of, typically, 60 minute score events in urban and town settings, but often with some countryside thrown in. There are in fact two parallel series, the Oxford Street Series (OSS) and the Thames Valley Street Series (TVSS), but you are encouraged to run in both! Each series has one event per month.
The current league standing and event results from the summer 2020 series can be found here. MapRun league tables and event results
Now and then we add other types of event, for instance line courses. These may be found on this page of our other MapRun events.
Oxford University Orienteering Club also has some MapRun courses – for details see here.
