Volunteers Conduct Policy

TVOC code of conduct for Club Officials and Volunteers

All volunteers must –

  • Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part, providing information, guidance and assistance to all attendees.
  • Develop an appropriate working relationship with juniors who take part in club activities, based on mutual trust and respect, in line with British Orienteering’s safeuarding guidelines.
  • Consider the well-being and safety of all participants.
  • Contribute to the preservation of the forest environment by adhering to “leave no trace” principles, and supporting suistainable principles.
  • Promote the various positive aspects of the sport (e.g. exercise, fair play and respect for the countryside).
  • Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance, and act professionally at all times.
  • Follow all guidelines laid down by British Orienteering and the Club.
  • Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications where necessary (e.g. attendance at Event Safety Workshop) and insurance cover.
  • Never condone bad behaviour or the use of prohibitive substances.
