TVOC code of conduct for Club Officials and Volunteers
All volunteers must –
- Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part, providing information, guidance and assistance to all attendees.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with juniors who take part in club activities, based on mutual trust and respect, in line with British Orienteering’s safeuarding guidelines.
- Consider the well-being and safety of all participants.
- Contribute to the preservation of the forest environment by adhering to “leave no trace” principles, and supporting suistainable principles.
- Promote the various positive aspects of the sport (e.g. exercise, fair play and respect for the countryside).
- Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance, and act professionally at all times.
- Follow all guidelines laid down by British Orienteering and the Club.
- Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications where necessary (e.g. attendance at Event Safety Workshop) and insurance cover.
- Never condone bad behaviour or the use of prohibitive substances.
