The club will be running a summer series of MapRun-enabled Street-O events during the summer of 2025. MapRun is a free app which is fairly simple and intuitive to use.
Your visits to control points will be registered using the app and GPS tracking. For the event you can either carry your phone or use a suitable Garmin watch on which MapRun has been setup.
Almost all of our events use the “Waikato Score” system: visit as many controls as you can in 60 minutes. 10 points for each control numbered 10-19, 20 points for each control numbered 20-29, and 30 points for the controls numbered 30-39. There is a penalty of 20 points for each minute (or part thereof) you are late back.
Inside the MapRun app, to find the our events go to UK > Thames Valley > TVSS.
Events will be based at a pub and the printed map will be available (fee 3 pounds). These events password-protected – you will not get the password until you are ready for your run! The events will also be available for several months (not password-protected) afterwards. For this you will need to print your own map, which you can obtain by clicking the name of the event you want to run.
These events are suitable for beginners and help will be available if you need it. Please note that these events involve road crossings and, as such, are not suitable for unaccompanied under-16s.
Event 1: April 8th (East Oxford)
Event 2: April 15th (Princes Risborough area TBA)
Event 3: April 29th (Botley)
