How does it work
We used to say that you could just turn up and enter on the day. Sadly, as a result of COVID, life is not quite so simple.
We now have to ask you to pre-enter . The event page gives a link to Fabian4, our external entry system. When you pre-enter you will be asked to say which 15 minute start time block you want. On the day, please try to be there on time and ready to run in your start block. But we will try to be flexible if you are a little early or late for your block.
What do I need to bring
You don’t need any special equipment, just come dressed for the outdoors and appropriately for the weather. In all but city centre parks, you should wear trousers to prevent scratches and nettle stings, but don’t be put off as our beginner courses will stick to paths. Do wear appropriate footwear though – paths do get muddy and slippery in winter.
We will lend you an electronic timing chip (SPORTident), a compass if you like and give you a waterproof map to keep.
As a result of the COVID pandemic, and in light of guidance from British Orienteering, we cannot offer entry on the day. All competitors will need to pre-enter, through our external entry system run by Fabian4. Once you know your way around it, it is quite simple to use, but it may be a little daunting the first time you use it. Look for the link to Fabian4 on the event web page. And if you get stuck, the event page will include a name and contact details for who to ask for advice.
