Organiser's Comments

Nearly all seems to have gone successfully, even if numbers were a bit down compared to the 220 I was hoping for. The planned attendance of Compass Point and the surprise JP Coffee Box gave us a full complement of traders, which I hope many appreciated.

Wantage was a brand new and extensive map for which we can thank Bob and Pattie Beresford. I personally found it easy to read (carrying a magnifier was dead weight) and reliable, which is one key aspect in making orienteering fun for me. Unfortunately, we had one mistake on the map, for which we apologise: a mapped gap in Waitrose car park was actually not crossable. We have let the results stand. This will be corrected for any future uses of the area.

Huge shout out to Roger for planning great courses and doing half the organising (prior to my appointment earlier in the summer) including obtaining permissions. Alan did a fine job keeping us in check and the quality high. Finally, don’t forget our enthusiastic team of volunteers – please do volunteer at future races if you haven’t done so in a little while. The net result of a well-oiled ship: I even got a competitive run in to enjoy the course – happy me!
