TVOC Juniors qualify for 2025 YBT Final in July

The TVOC Junior Squad has qualified for the National Final of the inter-club Yvette Baker Trophy (YBT) for juniors for the fifth year in a row as a result of competing in a regional heat at the HOC event at Arrow Valley Country Park, Redditch, last Sunday (23rd March).

Ten TVOC juniors (and their families) made the journey north to Redditch on Sunday to compete on the Yellow, Orange, Light Green and Green courses for the YBT qualifying heat. For four of our juniors this was the first time competing for the Junior Squad. Everyone did really well, with ten successful finishes and no mis-punches.

The YBT Final will be hosted by Southdowns Orienteers (SO) at Capite Wood, near Ashington, West Sussex, on Sunday 6th July. This will be a great opportunity for all juniors in the club who can undertake at least a Yellow course on their own to have a go and represent TVOC.

So TVOC juniors (and parents!) – please put Sunday 6th July in your diary, because we are going to need as many of you as possible to compete in the Final. The YBT competition will happen from 11.00am onwards, with prize giving at about 3.30pm (but there will also be non-YBT courses available for parents/siblings in the late-morning). If you know that you will definitely be available on 6th July (or indeed if you won’t), please let us know.

Big thanks go to all juniors (and their parents) for your support; and thanks to everyone who competed in the qualifying round – you’ve made this possible. And thanks also to TVOC for the support the club has given the Junior Squad.
