The final round of the 2023 Thames Valley Junior Orienteering League took place on 18th November in conjunction with TVOC’s Saturday Series event at Kingswood in High Wycombe.
There have been 8 Junior League events through 2023 in conjunction with TVOC’s Saturday Series, at Brill Common, Shotover, Cutteslowe, Waddesdon, University Parks in Oxford, Wendover, Hodgemoor and Kingswood, with over 90 juniors taking part during the year.
The Junior League is for anyone who is aged 18 or under. Points awarded to each participant at each event are calculated against the clock, not their position relative to other juniors. For each age class on each colour course, there is a target time per km (straight line distance); and then each participant receives league points based on their individual time to correctly complete the course.
Each participant’s best points from 4 out of the 8 league events have counted towards their overall 2023 Junior League standing.
Congratulations go to the following age class winners for 2023:
|Age Class (W)||Name||Club|
|Age Class (M)||Name||Club|
Note that * in the above table represents an age class where a non-shadowed participant is also recognised for an age class award as a result of their overall League standing.
Full details about the league points scored at each event can be seen on the Junior League web page, along with lots of other information and the full rules.
The first 2024 Junior League event will be held in conjunction with the next TVOC Saturday Series event, which will be announced in due course.
The TVOC Junior Squad is for all members of the club who are aged 18 or under. We compete in various regional and national competitions each year and have occasional training sessions. In July 2023, we finished 2nd in the national inter-club Yvette Baker Trophy (YBT) for junior orienteering squads.
