A message for newcomers and infrequent orienteers
We would be delighted to see you at this and other TVOC events. This event, like all our events, offers a range of courses to suit everyone from newcomers to experienced orienteers. If you are not sure which course to enter, please contact the organiser (contact details at the bottom of this page).
Please note that, if you’re not a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered by British Orienteering’s insurance.

University Parks visitor map
Open parkland adjacent to the River Cherwell, with paths, flowerbeds, rough grass and small wooded areas.
The longer courses will also visit the adjacent complex University Science Area for an added urban challenge!
The map will be at scale 1:4000
The White and Yellow courses are contained entirely within the Parks.
The Orange and Red courses visit the University science area immediately to the south.
| Course | Length (km) | Climb (m) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| White | 1.3 | White courses are normally ideal for beginners. This white course is a little more challenging than usual - unaccompanied children should be aware. | |
| Yellow | 1.5 | Suitable for juniors with some experience or for supervised newcomers, and for family groups. | |
| Orange | 2.6 | Suitable for adult beginners and experienced juniors. Also suitable for family groups. | |
| Red | 5.4 | Longer (expect to run more than 5 km), but less challenging navigationally. Ideal for runners new to orienteering. You still need to be able to read a map, but it is more like an unmarked trail race. |
