A MapRun 1 hour score event in the town and parks of Abingdon. The usual rules apply: Controls 10-19 score 10, controls 20-29 score 20, and controls 30-39 score 30. 20 point penalty for each minute or part minute you are over the hour.

Starting from the Nag’s Head pub, Bridge Street (A415) about 100m SE of the centre of Abingdon (what3words).

Start between 6:30 and 7:30 pm.

The Nag’s Head pub is on an island on the river Thames. The organiser Nigel will be in the outside area, where they cook wood-fired Pizzas, so enter by the side of the pub. The nearest car park is the Rye Farm car park just the other side of the bridge from town which is free after 6pm. Frequent buses from Oxford stop in the centre of Abingdon.

Terrain: mainly flat roads and tarmac paths, however in the open park areas (orangey-yellow on the map), you can run off the paths across the grass. Areas shaded pink are private (mainly schools) and out-of-bounds.

Due to it being an urban event, participants must be aged 16 or over.

Event cost £3, cash only. The event will use the MapRun app and is already available to downloaded, but is protected by a PIN which you will be given at the event. In MapRun, go to Thames Valley/TVSS and the event name starts Abingdon24. 1:10,000 paper street-O maps will be used, so if you do not have the MapRun app you may still take part using `honesty punching’ and a watch.
