A message for newcomers and infrequent orienteers

We would be delighted to see you at this and other TVOC events. This event, like all our events, offers a range of courses to suit everyone from newcomers to experienced orienteers. If you are not sure which course to enter, please contact the organiser (contact details at the bottom of this page).

Please note that, if you’re not a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered by British Orienteering’s insurance.

Welcome to the Oxford Street Series! A series brought to you by OUOC in conjunction with TVOC. The aim is to have eight weekly MapRun events based in Oxford, starting on Tuesday 20th January to coincide with the Oxford University term. Many of the events will feature a novel format, and both score and line formats will be used.

Entry: Entries online only here. Entries will close at 14.00 on the day of the event. £3.50 for BOF members, £4.00 for non-members. Oxford University Students run for free.

Format: A line course of approx. 6km optimal distance.

The event will use the free MapRun app. This is available on phone, as well as Apple and Garmin watches. It’s advised to have this downloaded in advance of the event.

Starts: Start window will be 18.00-18.30.

Assembly: The race will be based from The Star OX4 1BU. The pub does not do food, but does generally allow you to bring food from elsewhere (there are many places on Cowley Road).

Important Information: Anyone 16 and under must be accompanied at all times by somebody over 16 due to road crossings. Races will be at night so it is highly advised that head torches and high vis are worn.
