Entries

A MapRun event around the footpaths and lanes of Goring and Streatley. Planner: Mark Saunders.

Event cost £3, cash only.

Start location:- Wheel Orchard car park, Goring, RG8 9HB what.three.words. Entrance is from Station Road adjacent to the Catherine Wheel Pub. Parking is free after 6pm. 350m walk from Goring train station.

Starts are available from 6.30 to 7.30, with earlier starts preferred.

Afterwards:- Catherine Wheel Pub Adjacent to start. Pizza Menu on a Tuesday evening.
Food orders until 8pm. It may be better to pop in before you run if you think you might miss it.

Due to it being an urban event, participants must be aged 16 or over.

The event will use the MapRun app. It is available to download in the app: go to UK/Thames Valley/TVSS and select the event starting GoringStreatley24. Note that you will need a PIN (issued at the event) to see the map on your screen. Paper maps will be used (available at the event), so if you do not have the MapRun app you may still take part using `honesty punching’ and a watch.

To ensure map availability please register, ideally by Sunday evening before the event.

Mapping and planning note: the station area is out of bounds, as is a section of the B4526 Reading Road with steep embankments and no pavement, as shown in the map extract below. It is your responsibility to avoid these areas, which may appear passable on the ground. Note also that the Start and Finish are in the same location, which is not a cul-de-sac. After starting, you should avoid running past this location before you intend to finish your run. It is not likely to be on any sensible route choice.
