Coaching

The club has British Orienteering qualified coaches, as well as experienced members who are more than willing to help you with your orienteering. They are more than happy to discuss elements with you (but perhaps not as they are getting their shoes on to go for a run or in the start lanes when their focus is perhaps elsewhere). At most events they will be wearing a bib with ‘Club Coach’ on it or ask one of those in the ‘Happy to Help’ bibs and they will point you in the right direction.

Juniors who are upto running at Orange/Green standard may find it more beneficial to contact the South Central Junior Orienteering Squad for training attuned to them contact the Junior Squad Manager at juniorsquad@scoa-orienteering.org.uk

For Adults and those not yet up to the above standard then in 2026 there will also be coaching sessions of 45-60 minutes before the following events, and an outline of the area to be covered;

These sessions will start at 09:30, and will aim to have participants able to start the Saturday event between 10:15-10:30, if possible the session will end near the Start or Assembly. Each session will have exercises of varying challenges so are suitable for all.

The aim is to give a firm grounding in fundamental orienteering skills on which other sessions can be built.

Coaches will also be at the event until course closure time to discuss any issues you had out on the course and to also celebrate your successes.

Those that wish to attend should contact the club coach Chris at coaching@TVOC.org.uk this will ensure sufficient resources are available.
